However, numerous studies have defined that 15-30 minutes is a minimum interval we should dedicate to reading each day. Neuroscientists agree that even simple lifestyle changes, like daily 15 minutes with a nose in a book, will support your brain health for a lifetime.
Do we like it or not, our mind tends to wander, getting distracted by phone notifications, new Netflix series in the background, or just other people. Sometimes it may be hard to sit and concentrate on one task for 20 minutes straight. However, our attention increases with periodic reading, especially when a good book comes into our hands. As a result, we can learn to focus on reading and any other activity.
Some of the studies showed that 30 minutes with a book on a daily basis could reduce cortisol levels in similar amounts as 30 minutes of doing low-intensity yoga. Reading helps us to relax by lowering heart rate and easing muscle tension. Also, a 2009 survey showed that spending time with a book was among the top stress remedies.
As for our team, everyone has different reading habits. Someone has 20-30 minutes a day for pleasure reading while working with texts all day long. Depending on inspiration and motivation, someone goes with the flow: sometimes it can be tens of books a year, sometimes none. Someone reads fiction every month and 2-3 professional books every year. And someone sets a goal of how many books they can read during a year, and this number works as a magic kick.

1. Creative Play: Recess sessions that last at least an hour have the potential to foster creative play. Many early childhood centers stress the importance of "large blocks of time (45-60 minutes)" for play throughout the day to help children develop "problem-solving skills that require persistence and engagement." Observations through our summer camp program consistently demonstrate that it takes an average of 45 minutes of free play before children dive deep into more complex and evolved play schemes. It takes time for children to figure out who they're going to play with, what they're going to play, what everyone's role will be, and finally to execute their plan. If recess lasts only 15-20 minutes, the children are just figuring out who they'll play with and what they'll do before the bell rings and recess is over. Many times, this allows for few (if any) imaginative play opportunities.
3. Physical Regulation: Children require longer than 20 minutes of active free play in order to regulate their bodies and prepare for learning (PDF). In fact, when you first let children outdoors, their initial movement experiences will actually increase their activity levels. According to Eric Jensen's book Teaching With the Brain in Mind, "A short recess arouses students and may leave them 'hyper' and less able to concentrate." Children benefit from an extended recess session (approximately an hour in length), because it gives their bodies time to regulate the movement and bring their activity level back down again.

The 80/20 Principle is a manifesto for accomplishing great results with minimal effort. The 80/20 rule asserts that 80% of results come from 20% of efforts. By this logic, the key to success is not to stay busy, but rather to invest the most energy and focus into the 20%, or the most essential priorities and tasks. The first part of the book explains the idea in depth, tracing the history and exploring related academic concepts. The middle section focuses on applying the 80/20 concept to the corporate world, and gives advice on topics like employing simple strategies and finding the right customers. The book ends with reflections on how to reduce time waste, reclaim free time, and operate more efficiently in all aspects of life.
